After 4 hours of sleep (if that) it was time to get up for breakfast. We got all ready and went downstairs but decided not to eat at the hotel after all. You see, not only was the hotel filled with some LOTR fans, but it was hosting a damn youth beauty pageant, a Mary Kay meeting thingy, and some sort of sports thingy. So, the hallways were full of 4 year old in curlers and make-up, drunken jocks, and make-up ladies. It was really nausiating... especially the little beauty queens. Whatever! Dee has her own story that she can tell in relation to them! Icks! So, we decided that we needed to leave because we thought that our heads may explode.
We ended up eating lunch (because it was lunch time by now) at Panera Bread over by the Virgin Megastore where Howard was doing his signing. After lunch we went to get in line. I was there over an hour early and there was already a line. Ros, PeregrinPip, Onecheekyhobbit, J, and Bryan were all farther up in the line, and I was toward the back (or middle, I guess) with FredO, Sue, Ninquelosse, Cinerama, Dee, Entwife, Hobbitlove and family, and True Hearted Easterling. I met a girl who was in the opening ceremonies at The Gathering there, so that was fun stuff! It's a small LOTR world, it is.
So, anyway, we kept ourselves busy in line while waiting for Howard Shore to arrive. Some fans engaged in singing the hobbit drinking song, and the rest of us went around taking pictures and movies (or watching FOTR or TTT on one of the many tvs there).
I knew Howard had arrived when I heard all this clapped. He was very gracious as he walked in.
So, blah, blah, blah... the line moves us closer and closer. I videotape everyone I know as they meet Howard and Ros (camera goddess) takes the pictures. I can't tell you what I did on my turn, but let's just say that PeregrinPip and I got a round of applause from the crowds! :)
So, that was fun... we ended the day with some ice cream and chatting. We saw Howard Shore go into Panera Bread and he sat in a window seat facing us. Haha... he probably thought we were freaks. Oh well!
